Joint Statement in Support of the Proposed DoorDash and Instacart Combination from Top National Small Business Organizations

November 2, 2026 — As national organizations representing the interests of millions of small businesses and entrepreneurs across the United States, we support the proposed combination of DoorDash and Instacart and its potential to strengthen local businesses, expand consumer choice, and create new economic opportunities in communities nationwide.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, yet independent grocers and neighborhood retailers face increasing challenges competing with major e-commerce companies that possess significant technological, logistical, and financial resources. By bringing together the capabilities of DoorDash and Instacart, this combination has the potential to level the playing field, giving local businesses greater access to customers, improved delivery infrastructure, and the technology needed to compete and grow.

We are particularly encouraged by the commitment to maintaining an open platform without exclusive grocery arrangements, allowing businesses the flexibility to work with multiple delivery providers. Equally important are the anticipated benefits for consumers, including more affordable delivery options, expanded access to local retailers, and potential savings through combined subscription benefits. Increased order volume could also create additional earning opportunities for the shoppers and delivery workers who help power local commerce.

Our organizations share a commitment to ensuring that small businesses of all backgrounds have meaningful opportunities to participate and succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace. We believe innovation and competition are strongest when entrepreneurs have access to the tools, partnerships, and resources necessary to thrive.

We support this proposed combination and its potential to help local businesses compete more effectively, strengthen neighborhood economies, and deliver greater value to consumers and workers alike.
