National ACE Commends Signing of Bill to Establish First AAPI History Museum in Washington, D.C.

[June 14, 2022, Washington, D.C.] - The National Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (National ACE) commends President Biden for signing into law Congresswoman Grace Meng’s bill establishing a Commission to study the creation of a National Museum on Asian Pacific American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. As an early advocate, National ACE is thrilled and grateful for the bipartisan passage of this important bill.

“Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) have a long and ongoing story of struggle and discrimination in the United States, as well as a storied history of innumerable contributions to American society. We look forward to the momentous occasion of having a museum dedicated to AAPI history and culture. It would make us proud to witness such a celebration of diverse AAPI stories, traditions, and lineages,” said Chiling Tong, President and CEO of National ACE. “We thank Representative Meng, CAPAC Chair Judy Chu, and the Biden-Harris administration, amongst countless other advocates and supporters, who are helping to make this dream a reality.”

We at National ACE are hopeful that a museum on AAPI history and culture will be monumental in refuting many of the harmful narratives surrounding AAPIs, which often endanger their safety and wellbeing. We hope that education on the richness of AAPI communities in the United States will bring us closer to a more unified and equitable future in which the stories and contributions of AAPI communities are wholly appreciated and celebrated.
